UK care home software comparison 2026

Five care-home platforms to compare, with practical demo questions, buying checks and clear sources.

By ServPatch · Published and sources checked

A good demo should feel like a day in your home, not a tour of a feature list. Can the next shift find what changed? Can a manager follow a care note back to its author? Can staff record the care they gave without finishing a second working day at the keyboard?

Five options at a glance

This shortlist focuses on residential care records, everyday oversight and team workflows. Nursing homes should also test their specific clinical and medicines requirements. The emphasis column is our interpretation of the linked product descriptions, not a performance score.

ServPatch: built around the working day

We built ServPatch around the practical pressures of running care. It brings care notes, medication records, tasks, incidents and care note audit history together, with Patch to help authorised users find information and understand reports.

Our reason to put ServPatch on your shortlist is simple: less time looking for the detail, more time using it. Ask us to show a recorded care detail, a note amendment and a report question using the roles your own team would have. These are our product claims, not independently measured outcomes. Explore the ServPatch platform.

Before you choose: confirm your required care-home workflows, any nursing-specific needs, data migration, integrations and the agreed Patch access. Monthly pricing is tailored; request the subscription and any one-off charges together. See our plans.

Care Control: care and operations together

Care Control describes a residential platform covering care planning, reviews and eMAR alongside rotas, HR and payroll. It is a relevant comparison if your buying decision includes business administration as well as residents’ records. Source: Care Control’s residential product page.

Ask to see: a normal care-recording task followed by a staffing task. Confirm what is included in the quote, which modules share information and what training each role needs.

CareDocs: care plans that reflect the person

CareDocs describes customisable assessments, care plans and interventions, alongside daily recording, dashboards and audit trails. Its product information covers residential and nursing settings as well as other care services. Source: CareDocs’ platform overview.

Ask to see: a resident’s preferences carried into a daily record and handover. Check how a reviewed plan is distinguished from an older version, and how staff find the current information.

Nourish: daily records and management oversight

Nourish’s residential offering brings care planning, daily records and oversight together. Its published emphasis includes consistent recording and a clearer view of activity across a service. Source: Nourish’s residential care page.

Ask to see: a change recorded during one shift, the next team’s handover and the manager’s follow-up. Ask which products, dashboards and implementation support your proposal covers.

Person Centred Software: a connected product range

Person Centred Software lists mCare digital care planning, ATLAS eMAR and other residential tools covering operations, activities and resident experience. This makes the exact combination of products an important part of the comparison. Source: PCS’s residential product range.

Ask to see: the care-recording and medication workflows together. Confirm the products, devices, pharmacy arrangements and integrations required for your home, rather than assuming the whole range is included.

Give every supplier the same shift to demonstrate

  1. Record: use a fictional resident and record a routine care interaction on the device staff will use.
  2. Hand over: find what has changed since the previous shift and identify outstanding work.
  3. Review: amend a note, then find the original, the author and the amendment history.
  4. Restrict: sign in as a different role and check that private information is not exposed.
  5. Recover: ask what staff can do during an internet outage and how records are reconciled afterwards.

Let a frontline colleague do the task, not only the salesperson. Note where they hesitate and what still needs a separate spreadsheet. Apply the same test to ServPatch.

Compare the whole cost, not just a monthly headline

Ask for a written quote covering your resident numbers, staff access, sites, setup, migration, devices, training, integrations, support, contract length and data export at the end. Some items may already be included; have that stated explicitly. This guide does not claim that one provider is cheapest.

Questions care-home owners ask

Which is the best care home software in the UK?

There is no single winner established by this guide. Your best fit depends on the care you deliver, staff confidence, existing systems and budget. Use the shortlist to arrange comparable demos, then involve the people who will use the system each day.

Will new software make us inspection-ready?

Ask how the system helps you record, review and retrieve evidence. A product demonstration is not evidence of your service’s care quality. Check the requirements relevant to your regulator and the care you provide.

Should a small home choose a simpler setup?

Start with the work you need to do now. Write down any essential future requirements, but avoid choosing solely because a supplier has the longest list. Confirm how changes in service size affect your agreement.

How we put this together

We reviewed official supplier pages on 5 September 2026 and separated published capabilities from questions that need a demo or a written answer. Links sit beside the claims they support. We did not independently test response speed, accuracy, service quality or value for money. Inclusion is not a recommendation for every care service.
